WELCOME
Welcome
to Liceo Scientifico "Enrico Fermi", Padova onlineHere
you can find all the information you need about our
school, its curriculum and activities.
Background
The Liceo "Fermi" of Padua was founded in 1969 and has
been attended by a lot of distinguished personalities
of the town.
Classes/Teachers
At present it is attended by about 850 students distributed
among 35 classes and taught by 66 teachers.
Location and premises
The building stands in the town centre, close to Prato
della Valle, the largest square in Europe. It dates
back to the 1920s but the recent radical refurbishment
has greatly improved atmosphere. Now it manages to be
both elegant and functional though the long corridors
might discourage newcomers!
Facilities
The school provides extensive learning facilities that
include two art and design centres, an excellent linguistic
laboratory equipped with language learning material,
three gymnasiums - one with exercise machines and two
with facilities for basketball - , a natural science
room, a moderncomputer centre and a good library.

Curriculum
Besides humanities and scientific subjects, over the
recent years the school has enhanced foreign language
learning; there are three bilingual sections (the languages
taught being English, French and German), a musical
one - instrumental lessons are available to the students
- and , finally, a section promoting a deeper study
of scientific subjects in the triennio (i.e. the last
three years of the liceo).
Goals
Our school is committed to preparing students for university;
emphasis is put on individual effort and learning is
encouraged as a means of stimulating the best possible
progress.
Survey
A survey carried out by the Universities of Padua and
Venice found that a great percentage of our students
go on to higher education and graduate in a reasonable
period of time.

The liceo offers six complete sections A ,B,C,D,E,F,
plus classes 1^,2^G/H and 1^ I. Here's the standard

In section B, starting from the school year 1998-9 and
in section D - since 1992/3 - a linguistic experimentation
has been going on. The study of the German and French
languages was introduced in addition to the curricular
study of the English language.
In these sections the overall number of hours per week
amounts to 30 hours in the first classes, 29 hours in
the second classes, 31 hours in the third classes and
finally 32 hours in the fourth and fifth classes.
In the school year 2000/1 two new courses started, since
then
- in section C instrumental lessons have been made available
to students: the syllabus of the different subjects
has been modified to deepen musical education also by
means of intensive listening (see specific project);
- in section F scientific education has been enhanced
in the triennio with the consequent involvement of humanities
in the project.
